Suggested Guidelines for ONE HOUR of Prayer

DON’T WORRY about ANYTHING; INSTEAD PRAY about EVERYTHING. Phil 4:6

...Couldn’t you  watch with me ONE HOUR?  Keep watch and PRAY… Mt 26:40,41

IF TWO OF YOU on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my  Father in heaven, for where TWO or THREE COME TOGETHER in my name, THERE AM I WITH THEM… Mt 18:19-20

OPEN YOUR EYES and LOOK  AT THE FIELDS! They are RIPE for HARVEST. Jn 4:35

ASK the LORD of the HARVEST, therefore , to send out workers into HIS HARVEST FIELD. Mt 9:36

I urge you, FIRST OF ALL, to pray for all people.  Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.  Pray this way for...everyone. 1 Tim 2:1-4

Suggested GUIDELINES for ONE HOUR of Prayer

When you pray:

  • Inquire of the Lord.  It is essential that we take the time to ask God, what is on His heart for us to pray.  He designs to partner with us – giving us divine direction for our prayers which we in turn pray back to Him so we pray according to His agenda.  This may mean surrendering your “grocery list” of prayer items as you allow the Holy Spirit to direct and teach you what to pray.
  • Learn to Hear God’s Voice.  As God leads in prayer He will speak to your heart, after all, prayer is a two way conversation.  Many times we may pray spending all our time telling God about the situation, never taking the time to listen for His instruction.  Take some time to wait on Him and listen to His Father heart.  Remember how He first spoke of His love and forgiveness to you!  He desires to tell you more.
  • Obey.  As God leads and directs you, be bold in following His lead.  Expect to put feet to your prayers and engage in the ministry of encouragement and evangelism.
  • Pray BELIEVING prayer.  Remember God has called you to pray because He intends to act!!!
  • Talk to God as you would to a friend.  Pray by speaking in conversational language.  The more natural your prayer, the more real God becomes to you.  His presence in your group will give you a glimpse of His heart for the direction of your prayers.
  • Pray with authority.  You are engaged in a very real spiritual battle.
  • Cover one topic at a time.  Allow opportunity for others in the group to add what the Spirit prompts in their hearts to pray around an issue.
  • Pray as often as you are led (without monopolizing).  Be sensitive.  Don’t be afraid of silence.
  • There may be those just learning to pray, as well as those with more experience within the group.  Encourage one another.  If you have never prayed out loud before, you may want to begin by just praying the Scripture verse out loud.  Perhaps you may want to write out a prayer and then read it.
  • Some people have found great value in recording what the Lord has led them to pray as a group– like a diary or journal.  These pages become a record and testimony of God’s faithfulness.

Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.  For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18:19-20
