Can I Really Hear God Talk to Me?
The way God made the ear can illustrate something about the way our spiritual ears work. The ear is the organ of hearing and equilibrium. It is made up of three parts:
the OUTER
the MIDDLE and the INNER ear.
The inner ear contains 20,000 hairs of varying lengths - kind of like a big harp. Although scientists don't know for certain, it is thought that different sounds vibrate certain lengths of hair stimulating the auditory nerve, sending it to the brain for messaging. It is also not known how the brain distinguishes between loud and soft sounds. However it works, the process is similar to our spiritual auditory nerve that hears God's voice. It can't fully be explained, but it works.
The ear also contains three fluid filled canals that are critical to keeping our balance and orientation. Two canals are for vertical movement while the other monitors our horizontal movements. There are three relationships channels that balance is critical - God, ourselves and others. Interesting to consider that any infection or disease of the ear can cause us to loose our hearing and orientation!
The anatomy of the ear helps us understand the spiritual applications in hearing God with our body, soul and spirit. Our outer ear hears the external voices of the physical world. Our middle ear entertains our thought and emotions and battles with Satan's accusations. Our inner ear represents the spiritual organ known as the human spirit that, when properly cultivate, is dependable in hearing God speak. There is nothing mystical about the Holy Spirit's speaking to our human spirit. This is a most normal and consistent means by which God communicates with us.
Who do you know that is a good listener? What makes them good? Are you a good listener? What does listening to God mean to you?
WHY WOULD I NOT WANT TO HEAR GOD?
Do I really want to hear from God? "Come over and listen to the voice of God," Moses invited. "We're afraid that if we hear God speak, it will cost us our lives."
Exodus 20
Everything changes when God opens his mouth. It is impossible to hear God's voice and remain the same. Hearing God speak is an exhilarating, intimate, unforgettable, ongoing, life-giving, and kingdom building experience.
HEARING TEST
An audiometer is a machine designed to measure hearing loss with behavioral tests. Likewise our thoughts, attitudes, words and actions serve like a accurate test to measure our spiritual responsiveness to hear. How do you rate?

CORRECTIVE MEASURES
Personally, urgently, practically, expressively, unselfishly God himself SAYS to you and me today, "YOU ARE LOVED!"
WHAT IS YOUR BELIEF SYSTEM
"A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart." Luke 6:45 (NLT)
Does your heart know love?
Do you believe you belong and are accepted?
Are you loved?
A loving relationship with God will be personal, urgent, demonstrated, expressive and unselfish. The lover of God responds to Him - what He says to us reshapes our values, attitudes and ways. We are to assume His presence.
What will you do to maintain a deep walk with God?
With whom are you sharing the reality of your heart?
Are you living out grace and truth in your relationships?
